Focusing on the days when they were not yet quite experts at being outlaws, the story picks up Cassidy as he is being released from a Wyoming prison. he soon encounters one Harry Longabaugh, a lightning-quick young gunman. Changing Harry s name to the "Sundance Kid," the two crime prone but good hearted rouges embark on their touch-and-go first capers, which include shoot outs, hold ups, and of course avioding capture by pursuing posses. Veteran director Richard Lester places the emphasis squarely on fun, not bloodshed, as we watch Butch and Sundance try to get the hang of it all in their own trial and error fashion, and somehow survive more than their share of highly entertaining misadventures. With a little luck, these two just might become famous.
