This outing may be their last opportunity to have some fun together before returning to the U.S. After a high-spirited beer drinking session, the three set off to explore the Finnish countryside and inadvertently encounter the Soviet border. So intrigued by the nearness of the Soviet Union, they "Dare" each other across the border. Discovered and pursued by Soviet troops, the Americans try to escape back to Finland, but frightened and confused, they flee deeper into the Soviet Union where they are discovered by villagers and mistakenly accused of murder. Sentenced to prison with no hope for help through diplomatic channels, the Americans realize they must escape on their own or be resigned to spend the rest of their lives as unofficial prisoners" into the bowels of a prison where human chess game of life and death is played by the inmates. The three Americans fight to regain the freedom that is their birthright. There is NO risk too great.
