This is a W. S. George Derwood floral platter with elegant banded 22K gold decoration. The platter measures 11 inches across and 8 3/8 inches deep. The center is decorated with yellow, pink and blue flowers. There is a ? inch 22k gold band on the inside of the rim and gold trim outside. The plate is marked, ?DERWOOD, W. S. George, Made in U.S.A., 127B.? There is also a 22 Carat Gold mark and a number that could be 69101.
W.S. George started making their Derwood & Radisson dinnerware lines around 1910, right after they purchased the East Palestine Pottery Co, and continued to produce it until around 1940. Derwood dinnerware is very plain, with no embossing, and usually has elegant banded decoration. The W.S. George Pottery Co. went out of business in the late 1950s due to financial difficulties.Wear to the gold trim on the rim..
