Vintage Schaefferstown Fire House 1919-1972 Collector Plate Lebanon County PA Vintage Commemorative China Collector’s Plate Schaefferstown Fire House, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania (PA) 1919-1972 White with image of Fire House on front and short history on back 10 3/4″ diameter. September 9,1919 to May 27,1972. This building was erected as a House of worship by the Evangelical Demomination in 1847 It was sold to the Volumteer Fire Company No. 1 of Schaefferstown for $750 in 1919. Organized fire protection for Schaefferstown began in1831 when the Schaeggerstown Fire Engine Company purchased the “Victor#3 for $275. An engine house was erected on the north west corner of the Lutheran Church lot. This company disbanded before 1860.otther companies were formed and chartered in 1867 and again in 1876 when the Little Giant was purchased for $300. Itis still in the possession of the company Interest again waned until 1909 when the present Schaefferstown Volunteen Fire Company No, 1 was formed.On July 2, 1919 the Lloyd Hetrich Home and The United Brethren Church burned to the ground This tragedy demonstrated the need for better firefighting protection. The present equipment and the new fire house on North Lancaster Street build on a section of the Carnival Grounds are resuits of community coopersation
