Coaching football, that s what. All-American charmer Goldie Hawn starts as Molly, the coach who turns a down-and-out team s wayward ways into winning plays in Wildcats, a comedy of heart, family and football directed by Michael Ritchie (whose credits include Fletch, Semi-Tough and The Bad News Bears). For Molly, getting the job was easy. No other coach wanted the assignment at Central, where athletic perfection has been redefined: zero victories. Plus, Molly is a woman….and the male-chauvinist athletic establishment wants to prove the gridiron is for men, the steam iron is for women. Obviously, getting the job is one thing. Getting it done is another. The Cats greet their new coach in a way that might give them another name : the Chicago Bears. But spunky Molly bears up, the kids suit up, and it all adds up to first-and-Goldie, crowd-pleasing entertainment as she tackles the power-that-be head-on and turns them into powers-that-were.
