At least, that s what happens to two small-time gangsters named Brian (Eric Idle of "Monty Python" fame) and Charlie (Robbie Coltrane) when they deside to go straight, take a huge sum of their boss s money and run off to Rio. Pursued by two of the most ruthless gangs in London, Brian and Charlie take refuge in a convent, disguising themselves as nuns. Charlie uses his solid Catholic education to coach non-Catholic Brian in everything from the mysteries of the Trinity to the art of genuflecting. Nevertheless, the two "novices" find themselves confronting problems that would try anyone s faith: A priest who can t keep his hands from wandering in "Sister" Brian s direction; a hard drinking nun who can t resist big-time betting; and Brian s star-crossed romance with a hopelessly near-sighted Catholic girl. As the gangs slowly but surely close in, it s every nun for himself!
