Vintage 1976 U.S. Bicentennial Campbelltown, Pa Plate 10 1/4″ in diameter red white and blue trim with a Liberty Bell in center. Proclaim Liberty Throughout The Land Unto All The Inhabitants Therof (Lev.25:10) The Liberty Bell was ordered from England by the Province of Pennsylvania at the cost of $300 It broke in ringing shortly after its arrival in 1752 It was recast in Philadelphia in 17763 from the same metal and with the same inscription. The bell was tolled on July 8 1776 to proclaim the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.It was rung each year on that date until July 8 1835 when it broke while tolling for the funeral of John Marshall Chief Justic of the United State.
